Rosie O'Donnell: America's Favorite Grownup Child
Published in Library Binding by Bt Bound (March, 2001)
Author: Tanya Lee Stone
Average review score:

Allergic to Roses
While not as ambitious as her work in "Toothpaste: From Start to Finish" this book is written in a way that could inspire kids to read. In fact, this may be a great book for some but, the fact that I cannot stomach three continous seconds of anything that has to do with Rosie O'donnell pretty much makes this a no-go for me. I may not like this book, but that doesn't mean your or your child will not. I think book is as good or better than the following titles that you may or may not have read... "Home Surgery:Do-it-Yourself Savings on Costly Operations at Home" "Kids Are Punny : Jokes About Rosie Sent by Kids to the Rosie O'Donnell Show" "The Great Polish Philosophers" "Idiots Guide: Internet Chain Letters" "Idiots Guide: to Dummy Books"

You go Rosie!
Wow!! Rosie is a dynamo and I never knew it! This book is well-written and so interesting that you don't want to put it down. I really enjoyed learning about the fascinating life Rosie has had and her wonderful contributions to society.

Rough Guide Belgium & Luxembourg (1st Ed)
Published in Paperback by Rough Guides (July, 1997)
Authors: Martin Dunford and Phil Lee
Average review score:

Great Guide Book for Touring Belgium & Luxembourg
I am currently living in Belgium and have gone through several guide books to help find the spots to visit. Many other books focus on hotels or restaurants, but the Rough Guide focuses on where to go and what to see when you get there. It has useful information on how to get there by car, train and even bike. I take this book with me on my travels around Belgium and am enjoying learning more about this wonderful country.

Anything and everything you need to know about Belgium!
Having spent an academic year studying and travelling in Belgium, I went through a great many different guidebooks to enhance my Belgian experience. The guidebook experience was a mixed one - some multi-area guidebooks devoted but a few pages to Belgium (Rick Steves' France, Belgium, and Luxembourg - very spotty on the Belgian information), others were more focused on the culture and history of Belgium than the intricacies of getting to a specific place (the Insight Guide to Belgium).

So, having gone through the gamut of books on Belgium, I can wholeheartedly say that this is the best one out on the market at the current time. The coverage given to tourist sites and getting around this small-but-wonderful country is outstanding...it helped me find some great, off-the-beaten-track destinations that other guidebooks might pass over. The coverage given to Luxembourg within these pages is also very well-done (not to mention helpful) -- something sorely lacking in other guidebooks.

The Insight Guide to Belgium is also recommended, but more as a cultural and historical primer. For the practicalities of everyday Belgian life, this is the only book you'll need (and its physical size is great - the least cumbersome and yet most informative guide I've ever carried around on my travels). So...what are you waiting for? Go to Belgium and take this book with you!

The Sacred Tree
Published in Paperback by Lotus Press (01 January, 1985)
Authors: Judie Bopp, Michael Bopp, Lee Brown, Lane Bopp, and Phil Lane
Average review score:

Calming
For all the people of the earth, the Creator has planted a sacred Tree, under which they may gather to find healing, power, wisdom and security. Its roots spread deeply into Mother Earth, its branches reach to Father Sky. Its fruits are the good things that our Creator has given to all peoples, the path to love, compassion, generosity, patience, wisdom, justice, courage, respect, humility and other great gifts.

The life of the Tree rests with life of the people, but if they forget to take its nourishment, many would grow sick at heart, lie, quarrel, and abuse the land, poisoning everything they touch. The people would be as in sleep, to awaken again to their search for the Tree, whose knowledge rests with the elders. I find this an especially calming and beautiful book for these terrible times.

Sailors, Lovers and Cowboys
Published in Paperback by iUniverse.com (May, 2001)
Author: Davey Lee George
Average review score:

Great reading
I was quickly immersed in the piquant dramas that played out as I read. I found myself transported to the rugged shores of Newfoundland, the arid plains of The Old West and the infinite vastness of the sea. I felt the presence of the characters' souls. At times I felt I were they.
I laughed out loud at the parodied Poe. I highly recommend this engrossing read, unless you happen to be a squirrel!

A true spirit-lifting book of poetry by a master poet!
Without a doubt, this is one of the best poetry books I have in my collection. Davey Lee George has that rare ability to paint masterpieces with words and verse. It ranges from the serious to the sad, to the joyful and the humorous. His poems about the sea resound with the splashing of the waves and the pounding sounds of cannon. You can smell the salt-laced air and see the clipper ships. His graphic and humorous poems of the old west open a time in America's old west. I am honored to recommend this book by a very gifted writer.

Carol Kluz is the coauthor of suspense: Countermeasures and Perilous Summer (Carol Randy) and the author of fantasy: The Prophecy Unfolds, The Prophecy Unfolds: Volume II and The Agents of Kedra.

Sally Ann Thunder Ann Whirlwind Crockett: A Tall Tall
Steven Kellogg is wonderful telling the story of Sally Ann from her birth, her running, and the bear battle, to meeting and marrying Davey Crockett. Very strong woman. This folklore tale has excellent color illustrations. I would highly recommend this one for reading to and by the K through the 8th grade, along with a recommendation for teachers and parents, also.

one of my favorite chidren's books!
This was a great book especially for young girls. It tells the story of a female hero and all her adventures. Even after marrying Davy Crockett, one of the most famous folk hero's, Sally Ann remains independent and the greatest hero in the book. I highly recomend it to anyone, especially those interested in folk tales.

Screw Your Courage
Published in Paperback by Writers Club Press (January, 2001)
Authors: Lee Marcus and Joella Martin
Average review score:

Thought provoking thriller
This is a fascinating treatment in the thriller genre of a frighteningly credible possibility. The novel races along with no letup in tension. Apart from being good entertainment - it would make a great film introducing new twists to the action adventure film - the story shows an originality of thought and idea that make it more than a run of the mill thriller. The author shows imaginative flair coupled with an ability to draw the reader into the dilemmas that confront the characters. There are no easy solutions in this thriller.

GREAT READ
A Great Read. The pages just flew by - a must for anybody looking for a book with an original theme, great characters and a very thought provoking topic.

The Search for an Abortionist
Published in Hardcover by University of Chicago Press (December, 1969)
Author: Nancy Howell Lee
Average review score:

A foundational book for social networks research
Nancy Lee Howell's book is an excellent case study on information transmitted through social networks. In this sense, the book foreshadows Ronald Burt, Mark Granovetter, and others.

Groundbreaking research -- Insights still valid today.
A look behind the myths and legends, Lee's groundbreaking book relied on extensive interviews with the women who sought and obtained abortions -- legal, illegal, quasi-legal, and self-induced -- in the days before legalization. Lee examines the factors that led women to choose abortion, the means by which they found an abortionist, and their attitudes toward their experiences. This book is a must read for prochoice and prolife alike.

Second Opinions: Sixty Psychotherapy Patients Evaluate Their Therapists
Published in Paperback by Jason Aronson (August, 1999)
Author: Lee D. Kassan
Average review score:

Essential reading when shopping for a therapist.
Lee Kassan provides readers with everything they need to know when searching for a new therapist, or seeking to evaluate a current one. The format is interesting and filled with the voices of real patients who have spoken frankly with Mr. Kassan about an array of sensitive topics.

Helpful to patients and therapists
I like the real life interview technique and appreciate the information both as a therapist and to give to people looking to pick a therapist. This book would do well in any therapist's library. I highly recommend it.

Sewing Beautiful Pillows
Published in Paperback by Sterling Publishing (December, 1998)
Author: Linda Lee
Average review score:

Outrageously beautiful book!
Love the photography - you will want to make every one of these pillows. Everything you need to know is explained, and while you will need patience and precice sewing techniques to achive results even half as beautiful as those photographed, it is well worth the effort. Buy it - add it to your library, or give it as a gift - you won't be sorry.

Wonderful pillow ideas. Good projects for using found items.
Innovative designs make this book fun to read. The step photos help you understand how each pillow goes together. Unique fabric treatments, unusual fabrics, and different combinations of sewing techniques make this book different from other pillow books. These are not the ordinary "typical" pillows in other books. I love the star!
